For a long time, we lived the familiar rhythm of a 9 to 5 job. Work during the week, weekends that passed too fast, vacations that felt like a pause rather than a life. Somewhere along the way, we realized we were always postponing the life we actually wanted to live.
So we stopped.
Not because we were unhappy, but because we wanted more presence, more time, and more meaning.
Choosing Slow Over Busy
We chose to slow life down.
Instead of rushing through days, we want to wake up without constantly watching the clock. To cook together, to walk more, to notice small moments. To let our children grow up with parents who are present, not always tired or waiting for “someday.”
We do not want to save our best years for retirement. Life is happening now.
Time With Our Kids Matters Most
Our children are only little once. We want to be there for the everyday moments, not just the highlights. The mornings, the questions, the curiosity, the laughter. These moments do not wait, and they do not repeat.
This lifestyle allows us to truly enjoy time with our kids, not squeezed between meetings or postponed until weekends.
We’ve Already Traveled, and Wanted More
Travel has always been part of our lives.
We have lived in different parts of the United States, including California, Austin, Texas, Portland, Oregon, and the Tampa Bay Area in Florida. We have taken multiple cross-country road trips, explored cities and landscapes, and experienced how different places shape daily life.
Those experiences changed us. They showed us how much beauty and variety exist, even within one country.
And still, it felt like the beginning, not the destination.
Family Across Continents
Aigul’s family lives in Kazakhstan. Choosing a location-independent life allows us to spend more time on the same continent, giving our children the chance to truly know her side of the family. Not through screens or rushed visits, but through shared days, traditions, and real connection.
Family matters deeply to us, and this life makes that possible.
Travel as a Way of Living
We have always dreamed of traveling not as a vacation, but as a way of life.
We want to stay longer, to slow down, and to truly experience each place. To learn how people live, to understand cultures, food, language, and rhythm. To let every country leave its mark on us.
The world is too beautiful to stay in just one place.
